Garcon Point Road Circle K robbed

Santa Rosa County Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery on Tuesday morning at the Circle K at 3804 Garcon Point Rd. According to a Sheriff's Office release, two black males entered the location through a back door and pointed a gun at the clerk. The clerk was ordered to a back office where the second black male suspect was waiting. The clerk was unable to open the safe. The suspects then proceeded to the front register, where they ordered the clerk to give them the money from the register.

The suspects then took several cartons of cigarettes and ordered the clerk back to the office where the safe was physically removed from a cabinet and loaded into a garbage cart. The suspects exited the store through a back door and left the scene.

One suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a white mask. The second suspect wore blue sweatshirt and dark pants.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for anyone who may have any information about this incident. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office completed an investigation on June 14 involving Robert Todd Crutchfield, a teacher at King Middle School in Santa Rosa County.

Initial reports to the Investigators advised Crutchfield contacted a former student who was 14 years of age on Facebook. After the friend request was accepted by the juvenile, a conversation ensued. Later, the conversation was continued on a cell phone via text messaging.

Armed Robbery at Navarre Turf

Read more...Just before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, Santa Rosa County deputies responded to an armed robbery located at 9970 Navarre Pkwy (Navarre Turf). The victim was sitting inside watching TV when a black male walked in through the front door. The male was approximately 6' tall and skinny, wearing a plain red t shirt, blue jean shirts and black tennis shoes. The male had gloves on and his shirt was pulled up over his nose mouth area. He pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded the money from the drawer. The victim took the money out of the drawer and put the money down on the counter. The male walked around the counter and observed the safe under the cash register. He then demanded the money from the safe. The safe was opened and the male grabbed the money. The male then ran out of the door and left on foot east around the building. A perimeter was setup and a K9 unit was requested. K9 tracked east side of the building north towards Bandera St. where the track was lost on a roadway. It is believed the suspect fled in an unknown vehicle. This investigation is ongoing. More information will be release when it becomes available.

Water Advisory: Stay out of the Sound at Navarre Park

Read more...The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County has issued a water quality advisory for the Sound at Navarre Park on Highway 98 in Navarre.  The health department advises against any water-related activities in the Sound waters at this location due to the potential for high bacteria levels of Enterococci, or fecal strep.

Fatal wreck at Hurlburt impacts traffic, local lives

Read more...Two people were killed in a traffic accident that shut down the westbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 98 near the Hurlburt Field main entrance for nearly five hours on Thursday. Seven vehicles were damaged in the crash, in which three Navarre residents and one Gulf Breeze residents were involved.

Wreck near Hurlburt entrance closes westbound lanes of Hwy 98

A multiple vehicle traffic crash that happened at about 1:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 98 near the Hurlburt Field main gate in Okaloosa County was still causing traffic delays as of 3:15 p.m. All westbound lanes are still completely shut down, and motorists are advised to avoid that area if possible and/or expect significant delays. Dispatch has confirmed at least one fatality in the accident.
