Fire district to consider rate hike

The Holley-Navarre Fire District isn’t looking for a bailout or stimulus package, but commissioners will consider raising fire protection assessments at its Feb. 23 meeting.

“In 2004 (when district officials began campaigning for a rate increase), we thought $1.2 million was going to be enough,”  Fire Chief Ron Norton said at the Board of Fire Commissioner’s meeting Monday, Jan. 26.  “Then, it was. That was then, but (the district’s budget is) still $1.2 million.”
