Navarre Beach opts out of combined fire service

The Navarre Beach Fire Department pulled out of negotiations to consolidate south Santa Rosa County’s fire districts at a meeting Dec. 6. The Holley-Navarre and Midway fire departments still are studying whether to join forces.

Navarre Beach Fire Chief Mike Howard said his department’s chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters opposes consolidation, which supporters say could save money, lives and property.
