The Santa Rosa County Commission is expected to discuss wind power, beach repairs and bike lanes on Navarre Beach when it meets Monday, Dec. 8.
According to an agenda for the commission’s committee-of-the-whole meeting that begins at 9 a.m., Gulf Power will ask to place a weather station on Navarre Beach to measure the site’s potential to use wind to generate electricity. The company and some county officials and residents hope to erect wind turbines on the beach to power at least some facilities.
Commissioners also are expected to approve an agreement for $570,044 from the Federal Highway Administration’s Local Agency Program to build 1.36 miles of bike lanes across Navarre Causeway and direct Coastal Tech Inc., the county’s beach consultants, to prepare plans and specifications to repairing damage to the west end of the dune restoration project.
