Residents still seeking relief from Coyote Landfill

Nature is doing its best to reclaim an abandoned borrow pit off Nuthatch Road. Ducks glide across dark water covering the bottom of the uneven bowl. Brush and young trees ring the pond. Bright mid-morning sunlight reflects off steep walls of reddish dirt streaked with white and gray bands of clay.

To the east, a sculpted mound of dirt and clay rises above the landscape. That’s Coyote Land Co.’s construction and demolition landfill.
