A bear was spotted at Navarre Park mid-morning last Saturday, prompting the park and Highway 98 to be closed down while Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers tracked the bear and removed it, according to FWC spokesperson Stan Kirkland. The bear, a 135-pound female, was relocated to Weaver River on the Eglin reservation, according to Kirkland.
Earlier in the week, a black bear was killed on Highway 98 last Wednesday when a vehicle hit the bear near the Sunrise Drive entrance to Holley by the Sea.
