A presidential commission dedicated to fixing voting problems is set to host its first public meeting in Miami. The Presidential Commission on Election Administration will convene at the University of Miami Friday for the day-long event. It will hear testimony and take public comment from election officials and citizens.

Funeral services will be held for Cherish Perrywinkle, the 8-year-old girl who authorities say was kidnapped and killed by a sex offender with a long criminal record. The Paxon Revival Center Church will celebrate Cherish's life at 2 p.m. Friday.
l NEW TRIAL ORDERED FOR DEATH ROW INMATE
The Florida Supreme Court has ordered a new trial for a man sentenced to death for a 1996 fatal stabbing. The court unanimously upheld a lower court's 2010 decision Thursday to grant a retrial to 51-year-old Michael Peter Fitzpatrick. Justices found that Fitzpatrick had ineffective help from his trial attorney, who should have consulted with experts on the DNA and other forensic evidence used against him.
l 3 SEA TURTLES RETURNED TO OCEAN
Rescuers from SeaWorld Orlando have returned three rehabilitated Kemp's Ridley sea turtles to the ocean. The turtles were released Thursday morning from Playalinda Beach at Canaveral National Seashore.
