Police are searching for the person or people responsible for a break-in at the South Santa Rosa Service Center between Navarre and Gulf Breeze.
According to Deputy Richard Aloy of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement agents were dispatched to the Service Center, often referred to as the annex, Monday morning in reference to a burglary.
The forced entry appears to have taken place over the weekend, but not much else about the break-in is know at this time, said Aloy.
What is known, however, is what was taken.
“It appears to be a burglary of unusual contents, as two safes containing election ballots were taken,” Aloy confirmed.
The ballots were cast in the last week’s special general election for House District 2.
“We continue to work the case and search for additional information, and we ask that anyone with information about this burglary come forward.”
