Leaders of local firefighting districts passed a great hurdle Saturday, Nov. 22, as they met to discuss the possibility of combining districts.

Fire commissioners from Midway and Holley-Navarre, as well as their respective fire chiefs and firefighter union representatives,  Navarre Beach Fire Chief Mike Howard and a few residents, convened in a meeting room at the College Parkway fire station in Midway, taking the momentous first step needed to consolidate their districts.
