The Santa Rosa County Commission is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Feb. 28, to discuss proposed changes to the wellfield protection ordinance.
The Fairpoint Regional Utility System Wellfield Protection Overlay District was created to protect an area in East Milton from which Fairpoint wells draw water used by the Holley-Navarre, Gulf Breeze, Midway and East Milton water systems. According to a memo from Planning Director Beckie Cato to commissioners, the new ordinance would ease some restrictions in the existing ordinance to avoid discouraging potential industrial development.
