Firefighters denied ‘Class A’ uniforms

A request by the Holley-Navarre Fire District firefighters for  “Class A”  uniforms was denied by a 3-1 vote of the fire board of commissioners during its commission meeting Oct. 27. Chairperson and commissioner Jim Fix was not allowed to vote.

The uniform consists of a dress blazer, tie, shoes, white gloves, hat, trousers and a button down dress shirt. It’s most commonly worn during funerals and public events. It would cost the district between $3,000 and 3,500 to outfit all 12 firefighters.
