For guests of the Gulf Breeze Zoo, a star was born on Jan. 23.
Kigali, a four-month-old Western Lowland Gorilla, has been in the care of zookeepers since his birth by cesarean section.
Now a healthy 12 pounds, Kigali is ahead on all of his developmental milestones and is raising a ruckus at the nursery, said Zoo Director Kayte Wanko.
“We have developmental goals for him every 30 days,” said Wanko. Kigali is progressing well, and he and his mother Rwanda are slowly being introduced to each other, a process that Wanko feels will be complete by mid-summer.
