Remembering Andrew

Jesse Britton and husband Andrew Britton-Mihalo. U.S Army Sgt. Britton Mihalo, assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group at Eglin, was killed April 25 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

For the soldiers at the 7th Special Forces Group at Eglin, losing a brother in arms is never easy. Sgt. Jesse Britton not only lost a fellow soldier, she lost her husband and friend.

Staff Sgt. Andrew Britton-Mihalo, 26, was killed by an Afghan Special Forces soldier on April 25 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Three other soldiers from the 7th SFG were wounded in the firefight.

The portrait that Britton paints of her husband is one of a soldier who took his job seriously, supported his wife in her own Army career, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

“He was awesome, kind and loving and he always had the best outlook on things, never took anything head-on negatively,” said Jesse. “He was really good at stepping back and thinking and then going forth to do whatever he needed to do.”
