HNFD looks toward Opticom

– District 1, speaks at the Holley-Navarre Fire District Commissioners meeting April 23 as commissioners Lauretta Aiken, Nancy Morgan and Chairman David Stone listen. Broxson was on hand to voice his support of the Opticom system which would allow emergency vehicles such as fire trucks to control traffic lights to shorten response times.

The Holley-Navarre Fire District Commissioners are looking into funding for an Opticom system that would allow control of traffic lights on U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 87 when firefighters or other emergency personnel respond.

Commissioner Lauretta Aiken spearheaded the program to investigate the costs of the system, which included equipping fire trucks with the Opticom devices to ensure a quicker response time, particularly during peak traffic hours on Hwy 98.
