Melvin calls for new economic development group

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners once again denied TEAM Santa Rosa's request to extend its economic development contract for another six months.

After TEAM board Chairman Dave Hoxeng gave commissioners an update on projects in the works, he asked that the county extend its contract for another six months, at which time the board would present a comprehensive plan back to the county.

Commissioner Jim Melvin said he opposed any extension of TEAM's contract but appreciated the efforts of the staff and board members. He said it was time to rebrand and re-organize the economic development organization.
