Walker meets commissioners' expectations

Hunter Walker

According to evaluations completed by the Santa Rosa County commissioners, County Administrator Hunter Walker is, on average, meeting their expectations.

This was the first year commissioners evaluated the county administrator position since it was created by ordinance in 1989. The evaluation comments commissioners provided to Walker were anonymous.

Walker received his highest marks as Chief Administrative Officer. He was rated as "outstanding" by a few commissioners in his budget and department performance. Comments regarding his work with the county budget stated that this area is "one of Mr. Walker's strongest areas." On the other end of the spectrum, he received two "unsatisfactory" marks for his supervision and leadership skills. The justification was that Walker's failure to consistently communicate with staffers under his supervision has led to "many deviations from stated board policy," resulting in "adverse publicity for the Board."
