Holly-Navarre Fire District helped kick off Fire Prevention Week with its annual fall festival Saturday at Navarre Park.
Fire Chief Ron Norton said an estimated 800 people attended the festival throughout the day to enjoy food, games and fire safety demonstrations from local fire departments, including Holley Navarre Fire District, Navarre Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Midway Fire Department and Gulf Breeze Fire Department.
Children learned the importance of fire safety while also getting an inside look at the district's fire engines and other equipment.
Norton said the most common cause of house fires was unattended cooking and stressed the importance of making sure children knew what to do in case of a fire.
