Santa Rosa County Zoning Board will recommend the board of county commissioners make similar changes to the Navarre Town Center TC2 district as it did for the Heart of Navarre Overlay District.
A public hearing was held Aug. 8 during the zoning board meeting for residents to provide input on the TC1 and TC2 portions of the plan before the board made recommendations to commissioners.
"Unlike the Heart of Navarre Overlay District, this particular one is not as easy to simply remove some of the provisions and leave the other ones," said Planning Director Beckie Cato.
She said the staff suggestion was to revert the zoning for TC2 back to residential 1-2 and revert the zoning of TC1 back to highway commercial. The suggestion also included revising the highway commercial district zoning code to allow a conditional use for anyone wanting to construct a "town center type" development.
Robin Edwards, district 4 zoning board member, said there was a lot of optimism about the plan in the beginning, but admitted it was not a reality at this time. She said she would be in favor of the changes recommended by Cato and staff.
