Several fire departments responded to a house fire about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the 2300 block of Prytania Circle in Navarre.
Holley-Navarre Fire Chief Ron Norton said fire was coming from the roof when firefighters arrived at the scene. The family was at home at the time of the fire, but only one family member suffered minor second-degree burns on her foot while trying to evacuate the house. She was treated by EMS and later taken to the hospital by a neighbor.
Firefighters rescued the family’s pet cat and were able to move the occupants’ vehicles from the driveway and garage. A majority of the structure was saved but the contents of the home had severe smoke and water damage.
The exact cause is not known, but Norton said the fire started on the back porch and spread into the attic before the family discovered the flames and called 911.
Firefighters from Holley-Navarre, Navarre Beach, Florosa, Midway, East Milton and Gulf Breeze battled the fire and an engine from Avalon provided coverage.
