Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners narrowly approved amending the hours of operations for the Navarre Fishing Pier Bar during an Aug. 11 board meeting.
While commissioners previously discussed approving the current closing times of 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, Commissioner Jim Williamson made a motion to change the closing time to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Commissioner Don Salter said he was agreeable to require all music to stop at those times but believed the restaurant should be able to stay open as long as other beach establishments were allowed.
Loretta Aiken of Navarre asked commissioners if all other restaurants on the beach were required to close at those times.
Unlike other beach establishments, Williamson said the county owned the pier bar and could set the hours of operations.
