Melvin taking care of business in Navarre

MelvinSanta Rosa County Commissioner Jim Melvin has spent the past six months since taking office as the District 4 Commissioner working on improvements for the district, especially in the Navarre area though he said he is still in the learning curve.

“Anybody with leadership training knows you can’t jump in and make changes, you have to learn how it works before you can figure out what needs tweaking and I’m still in that process,” said Melvin. “The most significant project I’ve worked on has been funding for the reefs [at the Navarre Beach Underwater Marine Sanctuary].”

Hunter Walker, county administrator, said Melvin has provided a fresh perspective for the board of county commissioners.

“It is always good to get a new or fresh perspective on the board and Commissioner Melvin has provided that new or fresh perspective in his first six months. His background with the military and as a CPA provides skill sets which are extremely helpful in his position and to the board,” said Walker. “I have found him to be open and a quick study, particularly in financial and related matters.”
