Kyle Walling, 17, of Navarre was found guilty of first degree felony murder and attempted armed robbery according to prosecuting attorney for the state attorney’s office, Angela Mason.

Walling was being tried in connection with the murder of Christopher Pitcock in Fort Walton Beach last year.

The trial began June 6 and opening statements were delivered Tuesday; the jury came down with the verdict Wednesday night.

Mason said you can never be sure exactly what the jury is thinking, but she believes how Timothy Chavers got the gun is was the turning point in Walling’s trial.

“I think it was important that the gun used by Timothy Chavers to kill Chris Pitcock was given to him by Kyle Walling,” said Mason.

Mason also said the trial of Chavers, another teenager involved in the murder, is scheduled to begin August 1.

Walling’s sentencing is scheduled for July 26.
