Though Memorial Day is seen by many as the beginning of summer, the true reason for this holiday – the men and women who have given their lives in service to this country – was honored during the Memorial Day service at Navarre Park May 30.
Led by event coordinator, Verna Joyce, commander of the Navarre American Legion, Post 382, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 4407 in Midway, the VFW Spectre post 11367 in Mary Esther, the Navarre Elk’s Lodge, the Navarre High School NJROTC honored both the men and women who have served the United States in the military and those who have served in the community as a civil servant.
