The Navarre Area Board of Realtors and the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held a meeting on the Navarre Town Center plan May 17.
The intent of the meeting was to review the original Town Center plan and allow residents to “get up-to-speed” with where the plan stands, according to Santa Rosa County Commissioner Jim Melvin.
The meeting room at the NABOR offices on Navarre School Road was full as Josh Dault, a planner with the county, outlined the history of the plan, the reasons for its inception and the difficulties that lie in the implementation.
Originally conceived in 2004, during much stronger economic growth for the county as well as much of the United States, the plan was to give a cohesive planning structure to areas of Navarre designated as Town Center and the Heart of Navarre.
