When University of Alabama sophomore Huston Walters looked out his window to check for approaching storms, he never dreamed it would be the last time he’d see his block in one piece.
On April 27, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Walters, formerly from Navarre, received a call from his mother that there were bad storms reported in his area, but he couldn’t see or hear anything when he looked out his window. He went back to watching TV when he heard it, the sound of hurricane winds.
“I thought, ‘This does not sound good,’” Walter said. “I heard that wind and it just kept getting louder and louder. Then the pressure dropped. That’s when I was like, ‘Oh man it’s coming.’”
