Mold has been discovered in the library of the Holley-Navarre Middle School, and the district has closed the library while it continues the cleanup.
Charlie Parker, Facilities foreman for the Santa Rosa County School Board, said the mold does not pose a health risk to students and staff, but that the closing of the library has allowed for the removal of the problem.
Water seeped into the walls from outside and collected on the back side of the bookcases. The mold was discovered after the library had hung a poster on the wall and noticed beads of water had collected on the front. When the poster was pulled down, mold was found growing on the walls.
