Reports that the economy is getting better mix with reports that it still has a long way to go, but regardless Santa Rosa County is not operating at its ideal budget and because of that community leaders have to look at ways to better the area’s economy.
According to County Commissioner Jim Melvin, suspending the Navarre Town Center Plan until the economy has a chance to rebound may be one option. He said he has received phone calls, letters, emails and has even been stopped in the street by concerned community members and business owners over the Town Center Plan. He is looking at: whether the plan is hindering development/growth, alternative suggestions to fund the infrastructure and should the plan be shelved/certain aspects “grand-fathered” in or kept intact, etc.
