Eight trapped in rip currents, leads to one drowning

Rip currents took the life of a man near Navarre Beach April 4.
Chief Mike Howard, of the Navarre Beach Fire Department said they were first on scene to the area of the Gulf Islands National Seashore between Navarre Beach and Opal Beach where four swimmers got caught in a rip current.
Two adults and one younger female were brought ashore, checked out and released, but the male adult, from Mobile, was farther out than the others and had to be retrieved by rescue swimmers.
