Lawsuit seeks new, improved judicial facilities

A federal lawsuit could force the Santa Rosa County Commission to build a new judicial center years after acknowledging severe conditions at the county’s 84-year-old courthouse.
“I was quite embarrassed when I read [about the lawsuit in a daily newspaper],” Commissioner Bob Cole said at the commission’s March 21 meeting. “For the eight years I’ve served on this board the county courthouse has been somewhat of a shambles. We all know that.”
