House Bill 459 may increase storage wars

House Bill 459 seeks to change the way storage unit owners notify renters of intent to foreclose on the renter’s property.
Currently, owners have to mail a notice through certified mail and post a notice in a newspaper, among other regulations covering number of days between steps in the notification process, etc. After a storage unit owner satisfies all the notification regulations for an unpaid unit, auctioning the property inside the unit is the last resort option.
