Every few years, all the state roads are inspected for an engineering rating and prioritized for updates based on those ratings, according to a Florida Department of Transportation liaison.
It’s U.S. Highway 98’s turn for upgrades next year, according to County Commissioner Lane Lynchard.
Santa Rosa County’s section of U.S. 98 will be resurfaced in two sections. The first section will be from the Gulf Breeze Zoo to the Okaloosa County line, about 11 miles, and will be up for bids beginning in July 2012.
