Family of seven escapes home fire safely

A structural fire on March 3 destroyed part of a home in Navarre. Holley-Navarre Fire Department responded to a structural fire on March 3.

According to Fire Chief Ron Norton, the HNFD, the Navarre Beach Fire Department and Florosa Fire Department responded to the fire at 1:26 a.m. It occurred in the 8700 area of Faye Court.

“It appears to have started on the outside of the house. The actual cause is yet to be determined,” Norton said. “The fire originated on the exterior wall.”
A family of seven was living in the house, but all escaped safely. The fire burned through some bags, storage items, up a privacy fence and burned through the attic over the garage.
The first engine arrived at 1:32 a.m. and the fire was under control by 1:50 a.m., according to Norton.
As of Tuesday, the detective assigned to determining the cause of the fire had not returned phone calls and the Holley-Navarre Fire Department did not have any more information on cause of the fire as well.
