Remodeling scam leaves owner out $3,000

AndreozziA Crestview man was arrested for stealing $3,000 from a Navarre resident after entering into a contract with the victim for a home remodeling job.
William Anthony Andreozzi, 54, was charged with Grand Theft from a person over the age of 65 and was arrested on Feb. 24, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office media release.
Sylvia Blessinger had entered into a contract with Andreozzi in May of 2010, according to the release, and had given him a $3,000 deposit so that Andreozzi would install kitchen cabinets and countertops.
During the months following, Blessinger received multiple emails from Andreozzi stating that he would begin the work shortly, but the work was never started.
On Dec. 16, 2010, Blessinger reported the theft.
According to Sgt. Scott Haines, media relations for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation revealed this was not a one time incident.
“[Andreozzi] was out on bail in Bay County for doing the same thing there,” Haines said.
Once Andreozzi was arrested, he admitted to not performing the work he had taken a deposit on, according to the release.
Anyone who has had similar dealings with Andreozzi and thinks they are a victim should contact Lt. Bob Johnson at 981-2256.
