Fatal fire leaves victim unidentifiable

A fatal fire in Santa Rosa County burned the victim so badly that autopsy results could not positively identify the body.
Five fire departments responded to the fire in the 5200 block of Persimmon Lane in Milton, which occurred early on the morning of Jan. 30. Officials have determined it was a woman who died in the fire, but do not know her identity.  “We’ve exhausted all dental record options. The only option left is DNA,” said Jeff Martin, director of the Medical Examiners Office.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Skyline Fire Chief Tim Diamond said the Skyline Fire Dept. received the call at 6:29 a.m. and was on-site by 6:33 a.m.
The fire was fully involved when officials arrived, and the structure was a total loss.
The responding Fire Depts. were from the city of Milton, Pace, Avalon, Whiting Field and Skyline.
