Milton teen killed in hit-and-run

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, Casey Allen Bridgewater was traveling westbound on County Road 184, also known as Hickory Hammock Road.

Gill was walking on the road in dark colored clothing when Bridgewater's Jeep Cherokee hit Gill.

Bridgewater fled the scene.

Gill was pronounced deceased on the scene. Bridegwater's abandoned vehicle was located five miles east on the emergency lane of eastbound State Road 8.

On Jan. 30 Bridgewater called the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office and informed them he was the driver of the Jeep. FHP traffic homicide investigator, Corporal Brian Davis, found Bridgewater at the Red Roof Inn on Avalon Blvd.

Bridgewater was arrested and taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail, according to the release. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death.
