Garcon Toll Increases

The Garcon Point Bridge toll keeps increasing, not because the Santa Rosa County Bridge Authority votes to do so, but because the toll increases were scheduled within the bonding document created for the bridge construction.

The toll was increased to $3.75 effective Jan. 5.

The bonding document contains the schedule of toll increases (and increments of increase) and the schedule for the paperwork the board must put together and sign each month.

The two responsibilties of the bridge authority are to send the paperwork in and to disburse the twice yearly payments to the bonding company. The payments totaled over $4 million last year.
