SUV hits three vehicles before rolling onto its roof

Five members of a Melbourne, Fla., family were transported to area hospitals Thursday after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 87 and U.S. Highway 98.

No serious injuries were reported.

Danny Hendricks, 34, of Melbourne, was driving a 2002 Ford SUV west in the inside lane of U.S. 98 at about 1:05 p.m. when he failed to stop for a red light. At about the same time, Douglas Degeal, 44, of Wentworth, Mo., was turning east onto U.S. 98 from SR 87 in a 2007 Subaru passenger car. Hendricks swerved to his left to try to miss the Subaru, the front left of which struck the SUV in the side. The impact rocked the SUV onto its two driver’s side wheels.
