Gordon Goodin said Tuesday that a 2005 trip to Honduras weighed heavily against him in last week’s universal primary.
“No doubt,” he said. “I was the face of the Pullum Park purchase and that got a lot of attention because it was controversial. And when (the media) reported our trip to (Bill Pullum’s) property they kept saying we visited his ‘Caribbean Island.’ They neglected to mention that it was a hurricane-devastated island in a Third World country and we were there to see if we could help.”
Jim Melvin beat Goodin with 38 percent of the votes cast Aug. 24 in the four-way race for Santa Rosa County’s District 2 commission seat. Goodin, who was seeking a third four-year term on the Board of County Commissioners, received 32 percent.
