A team of Washington, D.C. officials visited Santa Rosa County last week, part of a 21-city tour to assess economic recovery efforts in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The panel, made up of officials from both state and federal organizations, visited locations in Milton, Gulf Breeze and Navarre to uncover what they called “the ground truth” of the post-oil spill situation.

“Our job is to assess what is really going on here, from the ground up,” said Josh Barnes, leader of the National Incident Command Economic Solutions Team.
