An independent agency on Monday took responsibility for settling oil spill claims, but BP will be in Northwest Florida “as long as it’s necessary.”
“We’re shifting more from operations and cleanup to long-term recovery and repair (of environmental and other damage caused by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that began in April),” said Chris Olson, BP’s local community support coordinator for Santa Rosa County at an information fair Saturday in Gulf Breeze.
