As traffic whizzed by on U.S. Highway 98 May 31, the world was at a standstill at Navarre Park.
Veterans, neighbors and students stood in solemn remembrance as a series of speakers paid tribute to service men and women here and abroad.
“We are here to honor our men and women,” said Verna Joyce, commander of the local chapter of the American Legion, the group that helped plan the event. “Let everyone remember what this day is for.”
