Girl Scout cookies recalled

Girl Scouts USA has announced a voluntary recall of several batches of a popular Girl Scout cookie.

The cookies, manufactured by Little Brownie Bakers, garnered complaints centered on the taste and smell.  Evidently, consumer reported an “off taste and smell” from certain packages of the Lemon Chalet Cremes. 

After what they called “fact-finding”, the Girl Scouts decided to recall 15 lots of its Lemon Chalet cookies, around 6.5 percent of the total cookies distributed nationwide.

The Girl Scouts reports that the cookies are safe to eat but do not meet quality standards issued by the organization.

Thirty-one councils have been affected and all have been reportedly notified with specific batch numbers.

The affected Lemon Chalet Crème cookie batches have the following lot codes:

7455881 7455882 7455883
7456741 7456742 7456743
7457661 7457662 7457663
7458521 7458522 7458523
7459401 7459402 7459403

The Girl Scouts claim that no other cookie varieties in its product line have been affected by the recall.  Consumers who have received a bad batch are asked to return the cookies to their local council, call 1-800-962-1718 or contact the cookie manufacturer at www.littlebrowniebakers.com.
