Navarre man shoots another in the groin

A Navarre man is facing second degree felony aggravated battery charges after shooting another man in the groin.

Shortly after investigating a noise complaint around 1 a.m. on Lost Bottoms Lane Monday, deputies heard a large caliber gunshot coming from the south, followed by a male and female screaming.

Upon further investigation, deputies witnessed Amanda Kelly and Randall Carter running. Carter had been screaming that he had been shot. According to a Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office arrest report, when asked who shot Carter, the two implicated William Kelly Jr.

Kelly, 48, of Ridge Drive, told deputies he “shot (Carter) in the (groin) with bird-shot because he was beating (Amanda Kelly) daughter.”

Amanda Kelly submitted a sworn statement to deputies that her father shot Carter “because he hates him, dude.”
