Survey results cause confusion on incorporation

What started out as an enthusiastic push to collect input from the community about possibly incorporating Navarre has left many annoyed and exasperated.

Last week, eager to announce the data of an informational survey, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce informally released its results.

However, trusting in the software used to create the survey and analyze responses, Constant Contact, the chamber unknowingly doled out incorrect results.

“Info was compiled and ready, people were eager for results, and we sent them, with full confidence in the software program,” said, via e-mail. “We will republish when we have something different and appreciate your patience while we work it out with the company.”

Initially, Constant Contact revealed data of 336 surveys, even though more than 400 were taken. The percentages depicted a whole of 126 percent.

“For now, we obviously cannot rely on the numbers published in the overall stats, we can only use the comments,” Terry said.
