The answer wasn’t “No.” Not exactly. It was more like “We’ll tell you ‘No’ when we’re ready.”
In 2008, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties each invested $125,000 to help The ZOO Northwest Florida meet operating expenses through the winter, when business is slow. Zoo Executive Director Danyelle Lantz told commissioners at the time that the success of the zoo’s five-year plan depends on continued local government support.
