The owner of RXExpress told his employees that if they could raise $400 he would wear a wig on Paint the Town Purple Day, an event to raise cancer awareness for the Relay for Life.
But not just any wig.
It belonged to Alice Ward, one of his former employees who was diagnosed with breast cancer last July.
Well, on Thursday, customers who happened to stop in the hometown pharmacy saw McMellon all dressed up.
"We actually raised more than $1,000 with this one fundraiser," said Kaye Dukes, one of the team organizer's for RXExpress. "We had customer's donating and everything."
Overall, the pharmacy's team, Huntin' for a Cure, raised about $3,882 and will turn the money in at tomorrow's Relay for Life.
