Surviving Step by Step: Girl Time Has Arrived

This trip is nine months in the works. From the time I committed myself last July, the months went by and before long it was time to get all that sparkle and bling ready.  My shoes have been spray painted and glittered red for the big parade saturday. When looking at them, the phrase "There's No Place Like Home" comes to mind. Yes, they are my Ruby shoes and plan to wear them proudly.  Let's hope for good weather. On the cool side or cloudy will be good. To much sun will make it hot walking in all that clothing. I will put on sunscreen. Taking care of my skin is even more important now that I have had treatments for Breast Cancer. But most of all, this trip is a celebration of Life. My reward for having a long year and getting through it all and everyone still being intact still. I have a few groceries to pick up to help out the boys. Easy stuff of course. I'll be eating like a Queen. That is a Queen on a healthy diet.

 I went for my first medi-port flush. It took only ten minutes to get in and out. I asked the nurses opinion of when she thought my port should come out. It was suggested to wait until after my next PET scan. That will be in the fall. It makes sense. Maybe she has seen persons having it out only to start over. The least amount of surgeries, the better. My positive thinking is saying this was a one time deal. It happened to build a real life experience compassion for other people going through this situation. That I will forever know how a person feels when they have chemo and will share my ordeal with them if the need arises. I pray for every person who finds out the three most scary words, " You have cancer". Please support your local "Relay for Life" teams.
