Waiting for Radiation

After all the body images were taken, another person came in to make sure all was done correctly. My radiology doctor came in next and then applied the markings to the area that was going to have treatment.  I had to put my arm back into the stir-up so he can get accurate markings. Funny how you get use to all these people seeing you. Almost second nature. I also keep in mind that they are helping me to be cured of a scary disease. That one single frightening word. Cancer.

After the doctor left, the lady helping me all along had to  tape these very thin wires to  two different area and take more scans. It only took several minutes. Now came all the instructions, She applied these small pieces of round tape that had a very small dot in the middle to the markings. The markings were done in this blue sharpie ink, looking like an intersection. The tape was placed in the middle.I have five marks. I was explained to be very careful not to have them rub off before my appointment on wednesday May 27th. Try to keep an eye out for the tape that they do not fall off.  A week is a long time. She said keep your back to the shower and only let water run down the front. Use a mild wash and pat dry. I may air dry. That is just a long time to be  extremely careful. I'm usually in a hurry to shower. I will count my polka dots every morning and night. I'm so glad the beach was not in my Memorial Day plans. Movies and rest and visiting family. No yard work. Wouldn't want them to sweat off. Once radiation starts, they will be able to mark them daily if fading sets in.

I am feeling pretty good.  My stomach has been funny the past few days. Could be nerves. I'm sleeping and eating good. Hair is growing back slowly. Still shorter than when it was buzzed. I see the progress. Maybe by Christmas time it will look like a nice short haircut. I'm excited. My son informed me there are only seven and a half days left of school. Truthfully, I'm glad. I may be able to sleep in. I will need the extra rest. Just as long as I 'm ready to watch Good Morning America. Once I get my time assigned to me for radiation, i will plan my days more accurately.

Everyone enjoy the long weekend. My Faith will keep me strong and my Family will make me smile. Life is good.
