About Navarre Press

Mission Statement
Our newspaper's only license to publish is the freedom of the press clause in the Constitution. The Navarre Press is pledged to an aggressive, responsible and fair pursuit of the truth without fear of any special interest and with favor to none. It is our social responsibility to listen to the voiceless, avoid any and all acts of arrogance, and to face the public politely and candidly.

A Love Story
We love Navarre, like no other paper has or could - ever. All of the current team members live in Navarre. Navarre is an exciting community. Not only do we have the prettiest beaches that we never have time to go to, but we have the most dedicated residents who volunteer all over the county, the best schools, a great chamber of commerce, parents who are involved in their children's lives. Our community accomplishes a lot. We have the best swim team in the panhandle, a
rotary club that recently provided milk cows for a kindergarten school in Tanzania, and this is just skimming the top. It is an amazing community. We are growing at a rapid pace and growth facilitates change. We are here to record that change and to keep the residents informed. Our heart and our lives are in Navarre.

General Info for Prospective Team Members:
Navarre Press's first issue was published May 25, 2000. Therefore we still have an edge and we are still excited about what we provide the Navarre community. Therefore, if you are a negative person, a complainer, a whiner, move as if in slow motion, shuffle your feet because you don't have enough energy to pick them up - don't apply, please. We won't let you spoil our fun.

However, if you are still interested, we provide a full range of benefits. 1. You get paid, even though you will ultimately contemplate paying us to work here - really. 2. We also have health benefits, though most of us never use them for obvious reasons. 3. We have vacation/holidays but no sick time, because you won't need it.

If you are interested in any of the below employment opportunities, please fax your resume to 850-939-4575 or email to jobs@navarrepress.com.

We will let you in on a little secret. Navarre Press's market is not just Navarre. We love Navarre, but it does not provide for all of our needs, not yet anyway. Our 25,000 plus residents must buy cars - somewhere else, must buy furniture - somewhere else, must buy clothing - somewhere else, shoes - you guessed it - somewhere else. We can't even be buried in Navarre - unless you are a member of one particular church. Very sad - but true. However, the best part is that Navarre residents can go either way (watch how you say that) - East or West, and sometimes North. Therefore, your market area is --- Pensacola, Navarre, Fort Walton, and even Milton. Isn't Navarre wonderful? We think so.

Editor:
(This position currently filled)

Continue the tradition of an award-winning newspaper.

Looking to make your way into newspaper management with a paper dedicated to excellence? The Navarre Press, an award-winning community weekly in one of the fastest growing counties in Florida, seeks editor/reporter wishing to advance his or her career.

What are the advantages editors of smaller newspapers have over people who edit larger newspapers?

The answers, from a large roomful of small-newspaper editors at a recent convention, were revealing.

These editors said they could:

Change things faster.
Create closer, more personal relations with their communities.
Mobilize faster to cover big stories.
Know their staffs better.
Have more fun.
Get to edit more.
Get instant feedback from the community.
Lead staffs that were energetic, motivated, eager and "shapeable."
Edit for communities that felt more connected to the newspaper.
Edit for readers willing to help because readers feel "It's my paper, not just your paper."
Serve more defined communities.
Can be - and are - more creative.
Enjoy the underdog's advantage - trying harder and winning.
Have more effect on the community.
This was convincing evidence that editing smaller newspapers can be as gratifying as it is challenging.

The Navarre Press, a growing award-winning beach community weekly newspaper in the Florida Panhandle, is looking for a talented, creative, energetic and enthusiastic editor. Our benefits package includes excellent pay, medical, dental, vision, paid vacations/holidays and the added benefit of working and living in a beautiful, still affordable beach setting.
