Before last August, Hamil­ton Boykin was a gregarious teenager who embraced the small town that made him famous.

A track star at Navarre High School, Boykin showed prom­ise as a college athlete.

Now, just five months lat­er, Boykin bears the scars of a brutal attack that nearly cost him his eyesight – and has virtually destroyed his faith in his hometown.
